Microsoft adds three new games to Xbox One Backward Compatibility list

Microsoft today added three new titles to the list of Xbox 360 games that are backward compatible with the Xbox One. Today's new additions include Galaga Legions, Joe Danger 2: The Movie, and The Orange Box, which is a collection of five games.

The company hasn't been adding to the list quite as frequently lately, as there weren't any announced on Tuesday this week. Last Tuesday, however, four games were added.

Here are today's additions:

Galaga Legions ($9.99)

The original Galaga captivated players all over the world, and now... it's back! But this isn't just a boring remake! Featuring table-turning game dynamics, super-slick visuals and mind-blowingly vast waves of enemies, this is the definitive version! Prepare to be hit by the second stick of nostalgic dynamite for XBox 360 Live Arcade by the same team who brought you Pac-Man C. E.!

Joe Danger 2: The Movie ($14.99)

Take Joe Danger on a death-defying thrill ride across the set of the greatest blockbuster movie ever made. Chase crooks on your police bike, destroy laser firing robots with a stolen jetpack, escape giant boulders in a minecart, time-travel to punch dinosaurs and divert the nuclear missiles on your unicycle! Beat your friends in fun 4 player multiplayer! Download endless new scenes from around the world, or create your own in the Movie Maker!

The Orange Box ($19.99)

The Orange Box is a special collection of "5 games in 1 Box," available Winter 2007 for the PC and Xbox 360. The 5 games included in this Orange Box are: * Half-Life 2: Episode Two - The 2nd installment in Valve’s episodic trilogy. Episode Two advances the award-winning Half-Life story, while introducing new characters, weapons and environments. * Portal - Is a new single player game from Valve. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay. * Team Fortress 2 - The sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map, and this year’s most anticipated online action game. * Half-Life 2 - The full version of the game that earned over 40 Game of the Year Awards and sold over 5 million copies worldwide. * Half-Life 2: Episode One - The first installment in Valve’s episodic trilogy. Reveals new secrets, introduces an epic trilogy of ep [sic]

You'll notice that The Orange Box includes five games for the low price of $19.99. Note that at the moment, none of those titles are on the Backward Compatibility list in individual form. In fact, they only seem to be available by purchasing the collection.

While backward compatible titles are a great way to get "new" games on the cheap, don't forget about this month's Games with Gold. If you're not familiar with the program, it offers four free games (two Xbox One and two backward compatible Xbox 360) per month to all Xbox Live Gold members, as long as you claim them in time. Right now, you can get Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings (Xbox One) and I Am Alive (Xbox 360) until the end of the month, and The Escapists (Xbox One) until November 15.
