Warhammer: Vermintide 2 adds Chaos Warriors to the mix, gameplay revealed

A sequel to Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide was announced back in August by Fatshark. While the initial Warhammer: Vermintide 2 announcement did not grace us with any gameplay information or footage, the developer has amended that today with a host of new details.

The latest trailer, seen above, showcases the new features incoming in the sequel, along with some unedited pre-alpha footage starting at the 1:15 mark.

The Left 4 Dead-esque cooperative gameplay from the original game remains a constant in the sequel. However, the game introduces a brand new faction for players to fight against in addition to the Skaven forces, that being Chaos armies. Players will need to work with each other quite efficiently to defeat the combined strength of these two enemies.

To accomplish that, the developer has introduced 15 hero careers to the original five heroes that make a return in the game. These careers will decide on what weapons, abilities, and talents that each hero will have access to. A talent tree and a new progression system are also being brought in to give even more options for hero builds.

An improved loot system that will give players relevant loot for their hero build is also included, which should be a welcome addition to the game, as the loot system in the previous title was one of the main criticisms made by fans.

Dedicated servers and modding support have also been confirmed, and the game's various new locations will be set in and around a fortress city defending the Bretonnian border of The Empire.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 does not have a definite release date yet, with its PC version is slated to arrive in Q1 of 2018. There is no word on when will the console versions be available.

The game is already up for pre-order on Steam with a 10% discount, and anyone who does pre-order will receive the upcoming Death on the Reik DLC for the original game for free. Moreover, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is free-to-play until October 26 on Steam. A perfect opportunity for any interested parties to try the game out and pulverize some rats.
