11 months ago, NexDock announced its first product, a dummy laptop that's meant to allow users to turn their Continuum-supported Windows 10 Mobile devices into laptops. The company exceeded its crowd-funding goal of $300,000 in less than two months.
With the next iteration, the company won't be focusing on phones and PC sticks as much, and instead, this one is all about Intel Compute Cards. Announced just a couple week's ago, these devices promise to be not much longer than a credit card, at 99x55x5mm, and offering up to a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 vPro processor.
While the device will have the dedicated slot for Compute Cards, the company says that it will continue to support all of the devices that it did before with the new model. In fact, on the other side of the laptop-style device, you'll find a slot where you can insert a variety "interchangeable USB Type-C modules".
The idea of modular ports is certainly an interesting one indeed, as they're essentially docks for a device that already serves as a docking station.
Pricing is still unknown for the new NexDock, but the company says that it will be available in mid-2017. You'll be able to purchase bundles that come with an Intel Compute Card, or you'll be able to get the standalone device.
