Samsung updates its Gear VR with new controller

Following in the footsteps of Google and its Daydream VR headset, Samsung is now also offering a new controller with its Gear VR and dubbing it - Samsung Gear VR with Controller.

Although the new controller looks premium, it offers much of the same experience as its Google counterpart, acting as a tool to better navigate the VR space. In order to provide even more convenience, Samsung has also included a few buttons on the unit that will give users quick access to home, volume, and back keys.

  • Various Motion Input for a Better VR Experience – The Touchpad provides quicker selection and interaction in VR apps, enabling various forms of motion, including the ability to point, drag and drop, tilt, shoot, among other actions, while the Trigger allows for enhanced gaming experiences.
  • Minimized Movement for Long-time Use – The Home, Volume and Back keys located on the Controller give users everything they need in easy reach so that they can keep their focus on immersive content.
  • A Secure Grip for Comfortable Play – Even during the most active movements, the Controller’s wrist strap offers a secure grip for comfortable and secure play.

Samsung has not made it clear when this headset will be coming to market, but it should be available within a couple months globally.
