Android 7.0 Nougat is now available for the LG G5 on Verizon

LG has always been among the best manufacturers when it comes to quickly updating its devices to new Android versions. Its G3 flagship was the very first handset in the world to get Android 5.0 Lollipop, and the G4 was the first non-Nexus device to get 6.0 Marshmallow. After launching the first phone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat onboard, LG was also among the first to begin upgrading its older devices to that version last month.

LG started rolling out the Nougat update to the G5 in its home market of South Korea a few weeks ago, and more recently, it's also made it available on Sprint and T-Mobile in the US. Now, Verizon has announced its release of Android 7.0 for the G5 too.

Verizon's support site includes comprehensive release notes detailing the improvements that G5 owners can expect when they receive the update, although the 'simulator' tutorials of its help site are still configured for Marshmallow.

Verizon's Nougat update will bump the G5's software version to VS98726B. Bear in mind that over-the-air updates like this one can take some time to reach all eligible devices, so if you don't immediately see Android 7.0 available for your G5 on Verizon, don't panic just yet.
