Gears of War 4 set to receive new maps in December

Microsoft has announced the next update for Gear of War 4 that is set to be released on December 6th. It will include several improvements and two new maps (available from December 13th and December 6th for Season Pass holders). Season Pass holders will be able to earn additional XP and Credit rewards when playing the Developer Playlist, while it's available, too.

The main attraction in the new update is the additional maps, called Speyer and Glory. Unfortunately, those without a Season Pass will lose access to the maps: Gridlock and Relic, for the time being. Non-Season Pass holders can buy those maps individually in the Gears of War store, or buy a Season Pass. Liam Ashley, Community Manager at The Coalition, said:

“Speyer: Evacuated long ago, this lonely district of Speyer is a still image of pre-Locust War life. The battle for the sanctuary is a close quarters affair, but teams looking to control the sprawling academy will need to do so together. Speyer’s opulent interiors and quaint plazas are best suited to longer range engagements.

Glory: A monument of military might, this COG battery was used only against the most strategic targets to maintain its secrecy. The defensibility of this fortress can be used to your advantage if captured, which includes a powerful mounted turret that can suppress the courtyard below.”

As for other updates to the game, the developers have added “several highly requested improvements along with some new features.” The highlights are:

  • A Daily Rewards system.
  • Improved visual feedback for damage dealt with the Gnasher.
  • Vertical Split-Screen for Windows 10 players.
  • Improvements to footstep audio balance, audio/video settings.

If you haven’t got the game yet, now is the time to get it. Between December 1st and December 28th, it will have 33% knocked off its full price.
