Walmart confirms that it is cancelling all pre-orders of the SNES Classic Edition from Friday

On Friday, July 21, Walmart caused a bit of chaos when it decided to list the coveted SNES Classic Edition for pre-order on its website. While some were lucky enough to secure a console, a few days later the company started canceling some of the orders, disappointing those affected. Today, the firm has officially come out and stated that there was a "technical glitch" and that the console was mistakenly made available on Friday, ahead of its official release date.

Although Nintendo has promised that there will be higher quantities of the SNES Classic compared to the NES Classic Edition, it has also stated that the product will still be a limited item. While Best Buy and Amazon have remained silent on whether they will have pre-orders available, Target has confirmed that it will offer the option at a later date. So at least there is one confirmed option for those in the United States trying to secure a unit before its official release date. A lot can happen in a couple months time, so we will have to be patient to see what develops. The SNES Classic Edition will come to retail on September 29.
