Ex-engineer sues Google for discriminating against conservative white males

James Damore, the infamous author of the anti-diversity memo that got him fired from Google, is now filing a class-action lawsuit against the company for its discriminatory behavior against white males with conservative political leanings.

In his memo, Damore had claimed that the disparity in payment of wages between men and women existed because the latter was "biologically" less capable than the former. This controversy led to an uproar across the tech world, but also exposed the misogyny that women have to face within the industry.

Now, Damore is back with a lawsuit that claims that the company ostracizes those with differing political leanings (read: conservatives), especially Caucasian males. He's not alone in this claim as another ex-employee from Google, David Gudeman, has lent his support to Damore's cause.

An excerpt from his filing states:

“(Google applies) illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas—in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others.”

Filed by the San Francisco-based Dhillon Law Group, the lawsuit seeks non-monetary, monetary, and punitive compensations. That is not all for Google, as the Labor Department is investigating a discrimination in pay distribution at the firm, a claim that the company denies. A lawsuit has already been filed over the pay-discrimination allegations.
