Google announced a major update to Gmail back in April for the first time in a long while, with the goal of letting users do more with their email without actually exiting the main inbox screen. While the new Gmail look currently remains largely optional as part of Google's Early Adopter Program, the search giant is now giving G Suite admins several months to prepare for the upcoming mandatory switch.
In a blog post, the Mountain View-based company said that starting next month administrators will be able to immediately migrate their users to the new Gmail, let them make the switch anytime they want within July, or wait for about four weeks until their users can opt in, while still allowing them to opt out.
However, in September users who haven't yet updated to the updated Gmail will be automatically transitioned to the new email look with the ability to opt out for another month. In October, the opt-out button will disappear and all G Suite users will be forced to migrate to the new Gmail.
There's no word, though, on whether these changes will apply to regular users of Gmail.
