Facebook is testing a new feature for sharing events to Stories and more

Facebook appears to be adding a new feature to Stories. The social networking giant has started experimenting with a new option for posting upcoming events to Stories and creating a group chat with friends who are interested in attending a birthday party, for example.

With this new capability, you can tap the "Share to Your Story” option that will show up on an event's Facebook page after you click on the “Share” button at the bottom of its date and time information. Details of a particular event will then be visible to your friends once they tap a sticker within that Story, along with an option for RSVP if they also plan on going to the said event.

Since the feature is still in an experimental phase, it's currently available to a few countries including the U.S., Brazil, and Mexico. There's no word yet on its wider rollout.

When it launches officially, the new capability will be the latest addition to Facebook Stories since it crossed 300 million daily users late last year, surpassing Snapchat which pioneered that feature. More to the point, the new option could be seen as Facebook's attempt to put events where there's a bigger chance of being noticed by users. It remains to be seen, though, whether the new feature will get people to sign up for events more often.
