Over the years, a variety of features have been tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for mobile platforms, such as the ability to disable read receipts from being sent and in-app playback of YouTube videos in picture-in-picture mode. Now, it appears that another small but potentially helpful feature has been spotted in the test version of the popular messaging client.
Even though the ability to forward WhatsApp messages to other contacts or groups has been around for some time, such messages are now distinguished by a label above the corresponding message content in the Version 2.18.179 of the beta client on Android. While this may seem to be a fairly minor capability, it may help users better differentiate between text coming directly from a contact versus content that has originated from a third party.
Nonetheless, if someone decides to copy and paste content before sending a message, the new forward label won't show up. This appears to be the only way to avoid having the label applied to messages given that there isn't an option to disable it in the WhatsApp settings.
Of course, while this feature is being put through its paces outside of the official version of the app, it's not necessarily guaranteed that it will ultimately make an appearance in the production version of WhatsApp.
