It looks like Adobe could be planning to release a full version of Photoshop for the iPad in 2019. It is being reported that the company will announce the product during its Adobe MAX Creativity Conference that will take place in October.
Currently, Adobe does have a version of Photoshop for iOS devices, but it is far from its PC counterpart. Speaking with Bloomberg, Adobe's chief product offer of Creative Cloud Scott Belsky, did confirm that the company was working on a cross-platform version of Photoshop but didn't specify when the app would come to fruition.
Belsky went on to further state:
“My aspiration is to get these on the market as soon as possible,” Belsky said in an interview. “There’s a lot required to take a product as sophisticated and powerful as Photoshop and make that work on a modern device like the iPad. We need to bring our products into this cloud-first collaborative era.”
In recent times, Adobe has shifted its focus by making its suite of applications available through its Creative Cloud subscription service. This not only deters piracy but also creates a steady stream of income for the company. By making its full apps available on smaller devices like the iPad, the company can branch out, not only offering more options to professionals but also amateurs and hobbyists. The mobile version won't apparently be a direct replacement for the PC version but will be offered alongside it.
