Last month, HP unveiled the Envy x2 as one of the first Snapdragon 835-powered Windows 10 PCs. Today as part of its CES 2018 announcements, the company is announcing an Intel-flavored version of the tablet.
Aside from the processor, one of the big differences about this one is that cellular connectivity is optional. You'll have to pay a premium for the Snapdragon X16 modem, which supports gigabit connectivity.
There's also a different keyboard cover. Rather than having a kickstand, this one is more of a folio. While that means it doesn't support many viewing angles, it is meant to be more 'lappable'. Unfortunately, you cannot switch the covers between the two devices.
The Intel processor is seventh-generation Y-series, which is really just because Intel hasn't yet announced the eighth-generation Y-series. This allows for a fanless design and better battery life (up to 15 hours). It also includes HP Fast Charge, promising 90% in 90 minutes.
The tablet has a 12.3-inch WUXGA+ screen, and it comes in at just 1.65 pounds and it's only 7.9mm thin. Naturally, it has pen support (pen and keyboard are included with the device), and there's an IR camera for Windows Hello.
The HP Envy x2 will be available this spring, which is when we're expecting to see availability of the Qualcomm-powered model. HP says it will share additional details, such as pricing, as that timeframe draws closer.
