OPPO's Find X is coming to Japan, media event scheduled for October 19

It was back in June when OPPO first announced its Find X smartphone which featured an impressive design with its nearly bezel-less display and motorized pop-up camera. While it has so far made its retail debut in China and India, it now appears that the phone will be made available in Japan. The company has announced that it will hold a launch event for the Find X in two weeks time at Tokyo's Spiral Hall.

Like other top-end smartphones, the Find X is constructed using metal and glass but offers a more stunning appearance thanks to its 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. To put this into perspective, Samsung's Galaxy S9+ has a screen-to-body ratio of 84.2 percent. OPPO is able to achieve this number by housing the phone's front-facing camera, as well as its O-Face recognition system, in an area that resides behind the phone's 6.42-inch AMOLED display.

This area will pop up to reveal itself whenever necessary, like when taking a selfie or unlocking the device using facial recognition. While you might be questioning the durability of the motors, OPPO has stated in the past that the mechanism has been tested in its labs and is rated for at least 300,000 actuations. Only time will reveal how durable the design really is.

As far as the internals go, it's what you would expect from the top-tier Android device coming out in 2018 and features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. The phone has a dual camera setup on the rear, featuring 16MP and 20MP sensors and will make use of a 3,730mAh battery. The Find X runs Android 8.1 and features the firm's ColorOS 5.1.

For the most part, this handset is quite impressive and those in Japan will be able to experience it soon enough. The Find X event is scheduled for October 19, where it is expected that OPPO will reveal carrier partnerships and pricing information for the region.
