Apple adjusts complaint against Samsung, adds more products and patents

Apple’s ongoing legal case against Samsung increased today, with news that the company has now expanded its complaint by adding more products and patents into the mix.

According to Appolicious, Apple’s original complaint alleged that Samsung’s Galaxy S set of devices, such as the Nexus S, amongst others, infringed on its patents, but today they went further by adding devices such as the DROID Charge, Sidekick 4G, Exhibit 4G, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy S II. The infringement also now includes both packaging and packaging inserts.

Apple has also decided to claim that Samsung’s 2007 device, the Samsung F700, was one of the first pieces of hardware that the company claims is “copying the clean flat clear surface of the Apple iPhone Trade Dress and the Apple iPhone/iPhone 3G/iPhone 4 Trade Dress.” Samsung has been open when it comes to stating that they have reworked their recent Galaxy Tab devices to help them compete better against Apple’s iPad 2.

Late last month Samsung’s lawyers filed a motion for the rights to see Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad 3. The motion requests that Samsung's lawyers be able to see a final (commercial) version of the iPhone 5, or rumoured as the iPhone 4S, and the iPad 3. They claimed that in doing so, they could change their products to try and stop any future accusations of copying by Apple.

Apple responded by filing a request in the District Court for the Northern District of California earlier this week asking the court to deny Samsung's request to see the designs for the iPad 3 and iPhone 5.

Apple is set to decide on whether to request a preliminary injunction against said Samsung products soon, something many expect to happen.
