Greece set Assassin's Creed Odyssey officially unveiled by Ubisoft at E3

Assassin's Creed is back with another entry to the long-running series, and just as leaks and the subsequent official confirmation revealed, Odyssey is set in Ancient Greece. Ubisoft finally showed off the game at its E3 conference, showcasing a cinematic trailer as well as a long chunk of gameplay.

At the start of the game, players will have to choose between two characters, Alexios or Kassandra, who becomes the main protagonist for the rest of the game, which is also filled with decisions that can alter the storyline.

Players will be able to use various powerful superhuman abilities thanks to the broken Spear of Leonidas that they wield, which has replaced the hidden blade in this installment. Naval gameplay is making a return as well, where players can roam around in their own warship taking down pirates and other threats.

The game has been in development at Ubisoft Quebec, the studio behind Assassin's Creed Syndicate, for the past three years.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey releases October 5 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, but those who pre-order the game's Gold or Ultimate editions will get to start playing on October 2.
