Many things about Samsung's Android Go smartphone are still a mystery, but that doesn't mean it's not coming. A recent certification by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) would indicate that the handset will be making its way to the United States, though we still don't know when.
The FCC filings don't provide many details about the handset aside from the model numbers SM-J260G, SM-J260G/DS, SM-J260Y, and SM-J260Y/DS, but they at least fuel the possibility of a stateside release.
Based on previous leaks, it would seem that Samsung is not following in the footsteps of other manufacturers of Android Go phones, opting to include its own Samsung Experience rather than a clean Android build. This seems to be more of a visual change, however, as the company won't bundle most of its own apps that duplicate the functionality of the pre-installed Google apps - a welcome change of pace for the low-end devices that run Android Go.
With that being said, the device's specs, price, and release date are all unknown so far, so only time will tell if Samsung's offering is more compelling than other Android Go handsets.
