Instagram is testing a new 'Type' feature for Stories

Instagram—popular video and photo sharing platform—appears to be getting ready to introduce a new feature for the Stories section of their app. According to The Next Web, the feature is called ‘Type' and it sits alongside existing camera options like Boomerang and Rewind.

Type specializes in offering a new way for users to create text-based stories and share them online; this is different from just taking a photo or video and writing on top of it. Users are presented with a plain gradient or background where they are able to add text and choose from a variety of fonts and special effects:

This functionality seems interesting and it appears to target those who want to make an Instagram Story using only text, without having to go through the process of taking a photo or video to do so.

This is not all, however, as the app could also have another interesting feature coming its way. Spotted by WABetainfo, Instagram will be able to recognize whenever you take a screenshot of someone's story and notify them when you've done so:

This feature is probably in efforts to reduce the number of people taking screenshots of people's stories when they're not supposed to.

It's not clear when these features will become available, as they are currently limited to only a few regions, but it may not be too long before they are officially released.
