Amazon recalls a dozen models of its AmazonBasics power banks over fire safety concerns

Amazon is cooperating with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to voluntarily recall six models of its AmazonBasics Portable Power Banks that were sold between December 2014 and July 2017 in the U.S. and Canada. These models have a high risk of overheating, and thus present a fire hazard.

The affected power banks range from 2,000mAh to 16,100mAh:

Model Number Name
B00ZQ4JQAA AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank - 16,100 mAh
B00LRK8JDC AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank - 10,000 mAh
B00LRK8IV0 AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank - 5,600 mAh
B00LRK8I7O AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank - 3,000 mAh
B00LRK8EVO AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank with Micro USB Cable - 2,000 mAh
B00LRK8HJ8 AmazonBasics Portable Power Bank with Micro USB Cable - 3,000 mAh

Those who purchased any of these products should receive an email from Amazon with instructions on how they can begin the refund and return process. Alternatively, users can also visit this page directly and fill the form or contact customer service at 1 (855) 215-5134 between 8am to 5pm ET Monday through Saturday.

If you do have one of the products in possession, Amazon advises to unplug and stop using the devices immediately.
