RIM rolls out BlackBerry App World 3.0

RIM has finally got around to releasing the official 3.0 upgrade to their BlackBerry App World application portal.

According to Engadget, the app was originally due to be released on August 22nd, but was held back for additional testing despite the company releasing a version to their Beta Zone users in earlier in the month.

RIM is hoping that the new “Sleek” redesigned home screen will let users find BlackBerry apps, games or themes far quicker than ever before. The design also brings in new home screen icons for games and BlackBerry themes, allowing users to switch between application summaries, reviews and screenshots within one screen.

A new “My Account” feature also hopes to make BBID and additional payment options easier, allowing access to account information directly from the home screen. Additional “My World” features have also been added, with a more streamlined view of a users apps and status, letting them see what apps have been installed or uninstalled. It will also let users manage subscription content and services.

Finally, RIM has also added “App Social Sharing” which allows a user to share it directly from the app details screen through BBM, Facebook, Twitter, email and via SMS.

The application is being rolled out as we speak to BlackBerry OS 5.0+ users and should be arriving on users handsets over the next few days.
