Sony's Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be available in the U.S. from Best Buy and Amazon

Xperia XZ2

There was a time when Sony handsets looked modern but that was years ago. After complaints from users and reviewers alike, Sony finally revealed an updated design for its devices at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). Now, the firm has announced that the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be made available for purchase from Amazon and Best Buy in the United States.

If unfamiliar, the Xperia XZ2 is the larger of the two handsets and features a 5.7-inch 18:9 HDR Full HD+ display, while the Xperia XZ2 Compact comes with a 5-inch equivalent. As for other specifications, both handsets are powered by the latest SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845, and also feature 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage with room for expansion via microSD.

The devices make use of a 19MP rear image sensor that can shoot 960fps slow-motion video and also include stereo speakers. As for battery capacity, the XZ2 will pack 3,180mAh, while the XZ2 Compact will have a smaller 2,870mAh. Both can be charged via USB Type-Cor wirelessly, have an IP68 rating, and feature an active fingerprint reader.

You'll want to order from Best Buy if you want to be one of the first to own it, as the retail chain will begin pre-orders on April 13 and will have it available for online purchase on April 20. Those that want to take a look at it before buying can head into the store on May 6 and make an in-store purchase. If you don't mind waiting a little while longer, Amazon will also carry the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, and will make them available on May 20. The Xperia XZ2 will retail for $799.99, while the XZ2 Compact will be priced at $649.99.
