Back at CES in 2017, Asus and Acer promised snazzy, top-of-the-line displays with Nvidia's G-Sync and HDR support in tow, along with a mammoth 4K/144Hz combo. Neither were in sight for over a year, but it appears Acer has finally pulled up its socks.
The Acer Predator x27 is the first one ever that puts four of the most sought-after features one would look for when hunting for a good gaming monitor.
- A 27-inch quantum-dot display with a 3840 x 2160 resolution
- 10-bit HDR at a pretty mind-blowing 1000 nits
- A 120Hz refresh rate that's overclockable to 144Hz
- Support for Nvidia's G-Sync tech
- Coverage of 99% of the AdobeRGB spectrum
- 4 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 1 x HDMI 2.0
What might make or break the deal for many is the rather steep $1999 price tag, though. Along with this, 4K gaming at such frame rates would demand the presence of at least, a GTX 1080 graphics card - because AMD cards would mean having to give up G-Sync support - which is already on the expensive side because of cryptominers' shenanigans.
The upcoming ROG Swift PG27UQ (the name just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?), Asus' counterpart monitor offering comparable specs, is expected to be priced similarly as well, so it's a good idea to wait it out for its release before jumping the gun on this one.
The Predator X27 can be preordered at Newegg, and is expected to be publicly available on June 1.
