Fitbit announces Ace, a fitness wearable made for children

If the launch of one fitness tracker by Fitbit wasn't enough today, the firm also debuted a new wearable that is directly aimed at children. The Fitbit Ace will be priced at $99.95 and will be shipping in late May.

As you might expect from a fitness wearable, the Ace offers activity and sleep tracking and can be paired with the iOS or Android apps to track statistics. What makes this different than other fitness trackers is that parents will have a role in the experience of the wearable by setting up a family account and then creating an account for the child.

When the account is setup, younger individuals that are using the Ace will have access to their stats, badges and other settings through a mode called Kid View. By doing this, parents will be able to monitor and customize the experience for their child, giving them a safe environment.

The Ace will feature an OLED display, accelerometer, and battery life up to five days. The device will be water resistant with an IPX7 rating and arrive in two colors. Again, you can pre-order the Ace today and it will arrive in late May.
