Playstation Network users may have had their services down for over three weeks but they will soon be able to get two free full Playstation 3 games via download, along with other freebies, for the trouble. The official Playstation blog site has now revealed all the free stuff that PSN owners will be able to download soon once the Playstation Store has been restored to the network.
After the in-game store goes back up, all registered PSN owners will be able to pick two games from the following five PS3 titles to download for free for the next 30 days: the zombie action game Dead Nation, the open world action game inFAMOUS, the platform action game (with level editor) LittleBigPlanet, the arcade action game Super Stardust HD and the futuristic racing game Wipeout HD with the Fury expansion. If you own a PSP you can also download two of the following four games for free: the PSP versions of LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation.
In addition, Sony will offer free movie rental downloads from its Playstation Store over one weekend with details to be revealed later. Users of the Playstation Home 3D virtual world service will gain access to 100 free virtual items. As previously announced all Playstation Network members will get 30 free days for the premium Playstation Plus service. Current subscribers will get an additional 60 free days.
European Playstation Network users will get nearly all of the free access and content available to US users. There is one exception; European users won't be able to pick Super Stardust HD as one of its free PS3 games. Instead it will offer up Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty.
