Apple brings in temporary wave of support to alleviate battery replacement wait times

For years there were theories that Apple was slowing down its older iPhones. Oddly enough, just last year, this was confirmed by a third party test and although Apple tried to sidestep the issue, it ultimately had to cop to the throttling of its phones and had to offer an apology and a new battery at a reduced rate. As you can probably imagine, there are a lot of people taking advantage of this offer and because of this, it is causing quite a delay when it comes to the actual repair. Now, in order to alleviate the issue, Apple is bringing in some unexpected reinforcements.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is bringing in AppleCare employees and external contractors into its retail stores to specifically work on iPhone battery replacements. While these employees are just a temporary wave of support, they are all being trained properly to ensure that all repairs are being performed at the highest levels. Naturally, this adjustment by Apple should help to lower wait times which have been reported to be weeks.

Of course, if you don't feel like waiting and want to get your hands dirty, you can also pick up a third party kit with a replacement battery and tools for the same price as Apple's repair charge and do the work at home.
