Dropbox has announced that on November 27 users will get a productivity boost thanks to Dropbox Extensions. The file hosting service has built partnerships with firms including Adobe, Autodesk, Vimeo, and Pixlr, to provide additional abilities to users when it comes to managing their documents.
Dropbox Extensions will enable you to carry out more tasks from within Dropbox, including annotating videos and editing images, working through drafts of a PDF and getting it signed, and digitally faxing documents to their destination right from the Dropbox file.
Quentin Clark, SVP Engineering, Product and Design at Dropbox said:
“Dropbox is home to hundreds of billions of PDF, DWG, and multimedia files, so we’re in a perfect position to connect partners to our users based on the content they’re engaging with. By making it easy for users to find the right tools for the task at hand, everyone wins.”
The full list of partners so far includes Adobe, Autodesk, DocuSign, Vimeo, airSlate, HelloSign, Nitro, Smallpdf, and Pixlr. The firm also stated that it will expand the list over time to increase the capabilities at users’ fingertips but these are the planned partners that will deliver integrations at launch towards the end of the month.
Dropbox has two major aims in mind with Extensions, the first one, they say, is to make users more productive as they’ll no longer have to switch between services and potentially get distracted, the other aim is to provide users with better tools rather than having them restricted to a smaller selection from one provider.
