'Timeline' was first introduced to Windows 10 users with the April 2018 update, along with many other new features. In simple terms, it enables users to check what files they have accessed recently and hence, keep track of their work. Recently opened webpages on Edge for Windows, iOS, and Android were made viewable as well; however, this obviously turned out to be an issue for users who do not use Edge as their primary browser.
To rectify this issue, SoundByte developer Dominic Maas released an add-on for Chrome, Firefox, and Vivaldi users, dubbed 'Windows Timeline Support'. Unfortunately, this extension was taken down by Google due to trademarking issues - more specifically, due to the use of "Windows" in the name of the plugin. Maas then submitted a new version of the extension on Chrome Webstore named 'Timeline Support' on August 3, and after a wait of over a week, it has now finally been re-published.
Interestingly, Maas told us that he had not received any takedown notice from Mozilla. However, he still uploaded the renamed version for Firefox as well, just to be safe. Just to clarify, there are no other changes in the latest version of the add-on, barring the name change. If you're interested in obtaining Timeline integration for Chrome, you can now download the latest version of Timeline Support from the Chrome Webstore. The plugin currently sports a rating of 4.87 stars out of 5, and has been downloaded by over 14,000 users.
