Amazon has announced, that starting today, users in Mexico will have access to Alexa and the Echo product range. The retail giant has added an all-new Mexican Spanish dialect and has also built new local skills that are only useful in Mexico. Additionally, the firm is bringing Amazon Music to the country and integrating Alexa into that product too.

Discussing the availability of Alexa and the Echo range, Toni Reid, Vice President, Amazon Alexa, said:

“Tens of millions of customers around the world are already using Alexa, and today we’re excited to introduce the service to our customers in Mexico. We’ve built an entirely new experience from the ground up that honors Mexican culture, enabling customers to just ask to play their favorite music, get the news and weather, control their smart home, set reminders, enjoy local skills, and more. Plus, in addition to Echo, device makers like Sonos, Bose, and Harman Kardon are also launching devices with Alexa built-in. This experience has been custom-made for Mexico, and we cannot wait to hear what our customers think.”

In terms of the Echo devices, beginning today, Mexicans are able to pre-order the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, Echo Spot, and the Amazon Smart Plug. These products will start shipping out to customers next week.

The firm has also launched its Music platform in the country. Customers will be able to use Amazon Music Unlimited which gives you access to 50 million songs, or Prime Music which has two million songs. Prime Music is free for Prime customers while Amazon Music Unlimited has several paid plans starting at MXN$99 per month for the Individual Plan.
