Sky prematurely releases Galaxy Note9 contract offers, states August 24th release date

Sky has inadvertently revealed its Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy Tab S4 contract offers in a blog post on its site, attempting to make a second visit to the post will redirect you to an article not found screen but we got the details. Samsung is to show off its latest Note device today and Sky will make the device ready for pre-order. It looks as though the Note9 has a release date of Friday, 24th August, 2018.

Between 9th August and 13th September, Sky will let those who pre-order the devices have quadruple or double the data than the tariffs usually afford. In addition, those who pre-order will get 10GB of Sky Piggybank data for free. As an example of what this all means, Sky writes "£6 customers will be able to get 2GB of data instead of 500MB, and for £12 they will receive 4GB instead of 2GB". The tariffs outlined below factor in the quadrupled or doubled data that only those who pre-order in the stated timeframe will receive.

Comprehensive details of the Galaxy Note9’s hardware were not released, however, Sky did release the contract details of the 128GB model of the device. With the Swap24 tariff, you’ll pay no upfront costs, you'll pay £42 every month (£36 for the phone + £6). With Swap24 you’ll get 2GB of data, and free unlimited calls and texts if you’re a Sky TV customer. After 24 months you can swap to a new device.

The other tariff is Swap12, on this tariff you pay £99 upfront and then £61 per month (£55 for phone + 6). You still get 2GB data and free calls and texts if you’re a Sky TV customer but you can swap to a new device after just 12 months.

In the announcement, Sky writes:

“The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 starts from £42 per month on a Swap24 plan with a 2GB data allowance and Unlimited Calls & Texts, while the Galaxy Tab S4 starts from £26 per month on a Swap36 plan with the same package. Anyone wanting more data can select from the 4GB, 5GB and 10GB options, with Unlimited Calls & Texts*, for £12, £15 or £20 per month respectively.”

Sky’s Swap24 tariff gives us a good idea of the cost of the device for those looking to buy it outright. Sky Mobile will charge £36 for the phone alone of the span of two years which totals £864. This figure is probably a bit lower that the cost of buying the device outright but it gives us a decent idea of the price range.

If you’re interested in buying the newly announced Galaxy Tab S4, Sky will make it available for pre-order at the same time as the Galaxy Note9. It will be available on the Swap36 tariff which consists of no upfront costs and £26 monthly over 24 months, this gets you 2GB of data and free calls and texts if you’re a Sky TV customer. It’ll also be available on the Swap24 tariff which has a £12 upfront cost and a £34 monthly bill for 12 months, this gets you the same 2GB of data and free calls and texts if you subscribe to Sky TV.

Once Sky officially posts the news later today after Samsung Unpacked event, you’ll be able to head over to Sky’s website and pre-order the Galaxy Note9.. Also be sure to check in to the Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event later today to see what the Galaxy Note9 packs.
