Apple hires engineers to build "the future of cloud services"

A new job opportunity, working for Apple in Santa Clara Valley, has become available. According to Apple Insider, the position is for a "Cloud Systems Software Engineer". The job description explains that they require an engineer who is experienced in scalable and extensible systems. The plan is to set up a small team of engineers who are to build "the future of cloud services at Apple." Apple is thought to be working mainly on a cloud-based music service. This service would let users stream music from anywhere. Because cloud computing has become very popular in recent years, this should be a very sought after job. In fact, according to Itproportal, 49% of UK businesses have adopted cloud computing services within their organization.

One of Apple's popular cloud services is the $99 a year MobileMe service, and they are planning on bringing out an updated version this year. It will include a digital locker to store music and pictures. This will allow users to stream their files to PCs and iOS devices. In March of this year, the large online shopping retailer Amazon launched a cloud drive service that is very similar in functionality.

According to Apple insider, cloud support is meant to be a huge part of iOS 5, which is Apple's newest mobile operating system for the iPhone and iPad.
