'Layers of Fear' is now free to claim on Steam until June 15

If you're looking for a nice psychological horror game that will give you a sense of pure fear, you might be delighted to know that Bloober Team's Layers of Fear is now up for grabs on Steam for free. The limited offer will end on June 15 at 8 a.m. Pacific Time. Once you claim the game and add it to your Steam account, it'll be yours for as long as you want.

The first-person psychedelic horror game follows the story of a mad painter as he attempts to complete his masterpiece. The player's task is to explore both the dark corridors of a Victorian-era mansion and the lurid vision of the artist with the goal of finding the items needed to finish the Magnum Opus. Watch the game's trailer below:

The game's features include:

  • Psychedelic horror – A sense of insanity means each turn of the camera may completely change the look of your surroundings.
  • Victorian setting – Explore a game world inspired by masterpiece paintings, architecture and decor from the 19th century.
  • Original and classic art – Numerous pieces of original art and music flesh out the story and environment.
  • Story-focused exploration – Only through exploring the environment can you uncover the details of the painter’s dark and tragic past.

The last time the title became free to claim was last December, courtesy of the Humble Store.
