Makers of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice offer donation for strong Xbox sales

In hopes of repeating its success as well as its philanthropic efforts, Ninja Theory - the developers and publishers of the upcoming Xbox One title Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, has pledged a donation of $25,000 to Mental Health America if the game sells 50,000 units in its first week on the platform.

The dark fantasy action-adventure game follows Senua, a Celtic warrior in her quest to rescue her dead lover's soul from hell (literally). The character is haunted by visions in the game, which acts as a metaphor for psychosis (a psychological condition that renders the patient incapable of differentiating the truth from fiction) that the protagonist mistakes for a curse.

The game also supports HDR and is Xbox One X enhanced. For Xbox One X owners, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice comes with a slew of options:

  1. Enhanced Visuals mode offers extra FX and visual quality throughout the experience
  2. High Framerate mode runs the game at 60fps
  3. High-Resolution mode runs the game with dynamic resolutions up to 4K.

The title was initially released for PC and PlayStation where the game several accolades, including 9 BAFTA nominations, and topped it up with strong sales that allowed the game to break even within the first three months. Ninja Theory decided to celebrate this occasion rather benevolently by donating all the profits from Hellblade's sales (amounting to $80,000) to Rethink Mental Illness on World Mental Health Day.

If this title seems worthy of your time, you can pre-order Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice for Xbox One here.
