Today at Computex, Microsoft announced a new version of Windows 10 IoT Core, called IoT Core Services. While IoT Core is a free Semi-Annual Channel offering - and will continue to be - Core Services will be a paid, Long-Term Servicing Channel offering, combined with various services.
That means that devices using the new option will get 10 years of support, and they won't get feature updates. This allows them to focus on stability. Microsoft says that it typically offers a new LTSB every two to three years, and with each one, they get 10 years of support.
There's also a new Device Update Center, which lets you control, create, and customize your device updates. They'll also be distributed through the same content delivery network as Windows Update, and you'll have the option to flight to test devices.
Finally, Device Health Attestation (DHA) lets you "raise the bar" for security. This allows you to evaluate the security of your device, and it can be combined with Azure IoT Device Management to help recommend solutions.
