Last week, during its Developer Conference, Samsung discussed many different things, like its new One UI interface, different types of displays for upcoming phones, and perhaps most widely reported, its foldable smartphone. While it did show the unit on stage, it was obscured by a protective enclosure and also dim lighting. Although there isn't evidence of what it looks like for now, new renders have been created to give us an idea of what it could look like.
While it was bound to happen at some point, it looks like the folks at LetsGoDigital decided to have a bit of fun, producing a very good looking render of Samsung's foldable device. Naturally, the website does state that some of the design elements are guesses, which means that it might not be accurate when compared to the retail model slated to arrive in the future.
But, the website does state that it created the render and implemented design elements like the hinge based on patents Samsung has filed. Again, there are a number of different patented hinges, so this imagined design may not even arrive in retail channels. Although we probably won't get to have a proper look at the phone for a while, it is interesting to get an imagining of it for now.
Samsung has not stated when the phone will be released but there have been reports that it could arrive in March 2019 with a price tag close to $1,700 USD. The firm has plans to sell more than one million foldable devices in just the first half of next year. This year was the "Year of the Notch" for Android users but next year could see a shift, with more companies introducing folding phones, which could make things very interesting in 2019.
